Dr. Joaquim Chaler (M.D., Ph.D.) is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician. He serves as deputy director at the PM&R department of Egarsat (Terrassa, Spain). He is leading a team of 8 physicians and 27 physical therapists involved in injured workers’ rehabilitation and assessment. He has also actively participated in the development of the biomechanics and muscle strength-testing lab at Egarsat and Fútbol Club Barcelona Medical Services. He has been lecturer at Ramon Llull University as well as Barcelona University. At this moment he is professor of the “Master de Valoración Biomecánica Clínica” at Polytechnic University of Valencia and lecturer at Interuniversity Degree Physiotherapy Barcelona (EUSES-Bellvitge, University of Girona, University of Barcelona, ENTI). His research interests include work and sports related musculoskeletal disorders, movement analysis and, specially, strength testing. From his research on strength testing on work injury patients, he received his Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Barcelona. He has participated in 25 national and international research articles and he has been invited speaker in more tan 30 meetings.

He is a board member of Sociedad Española de Rehabilitación y Medicina Física (SERMEF) and he serves as chief-editor of the journal Rehabilitación(Madr). He is associate editor of the journal Isokinetics & Exercise Science.
